A brief walk through of our interior redesign honoring form + function...

A studied mix of steel mill blacks, nature aged limestone, plaster whites, and ‘warm to the flesh’ beiges, golden yellows and browns make up the materiality of the refreshed Taylor & York salon environment. An intentional layering of the raw and organic akin to Ashleigh B. Taylor’s hair color philosophy honoring individuality and idiosyncrasy, patina and touchable texture to bring depth and personality that draw the soul home.

Choreographing a leisurely pace of movement around the space, we enlisted 20 gallons of Limewash [Vasari Sumatra #17] for its utilitarian visual connotations. The ancient wall painting technique required 7 days of individual hand-painted strokes to develop the chalky depth and luminous nuanced texture that gets better with time. Much like hair color, this paint technique requires an openness to chance as the color will vary depending on the pigments used, the composition and porosity of the surface being painted, and the application of the paint. Beyond the aesthetic, our goal is to create a safe environment leveraging Lime’s high pH level means microorganisms can’t survive, which adds a hypoallergenic quality; additionally Lime removes odors and harmful CO2 improving interior air quality. It’s our hope that during your next visit, you’ll find yourselves enveloped with a sense of calm.

Rawness and refinement are not opposite ends of a luxurious spectrum... they are two complementary features with which to populate a luxe environment

Over the next few weeks, we will layer the interior with heirloom pieces, custom shelving and a mindful mix of architectural furnishings to include a Mario Bellini Camaleonda inspired sofa in the most voluptuous velvet. The iconic Camaleonda design is amorphous, consisting of shifting sectionals positioned by preference. Inspired by your bold T&Y hair transformations, the sofa is giving THAT T&Y GIRL energy. “I crossed two words: camaleonte, or chameleon, an extraordinary animal capable of adapting to its environment, and onda, or wave”. said designer Bellini.

In this process, we ask that you 'pardon our dust'. We look forward to expanding our offerings and programming as the reimagined space will allow greater use for you - our beautiful community.

Amidst all the change, we are thankful for you. Some things remain the same.
